Quotes
| Behold, the days come, saith the
Lord, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and
with the seed of beast. And it shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to
pluck up and to break down, and to overthrow and to destroy, and to afflict; so I will
watch over them to build and to plant.

| For Zions sake will I not hold my
peace, and for Jerusalems sake I will not rest until her triumph go forth as
brightness and her salvation as a torch that burneth. |
For out of Zion shall go forth the Law, and
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Fear not for I am with thee; I will bring thy
seed from the East, and gather thee from the West; I will say to the North: "Give
up," and to the South: "Keep not back, bring my sons from far, and my daughters
from the end of the earth."

No power in the world will dislodge us from our place in the Land of Israel.
The State of Israel will not be tried by its riches, army or techniques but by its
moral image and human values.
Our army has a mission not only in times of
war, but also and maybe especially in times of peace; it has to shape the character of the
youth, and through this, the character of the people.

Peace for Israel means security, and we must
stand with all our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity and the
right to use whatever sea lanes it needs. Israel is one of the great outposts of democracy
in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be
transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security
and that security must be a reality.
We do not rejoice in victories, we rejoice
when strawberries bloom in Israel.
We ask today: "What are Poles? What are Frenchmen? What are Swiss? When that
is asked everyone points to a country, to certain institutions, to parliamentary
institutions, and the man in the street will know exactly what it is. If you ask what a
Jew is, well, he is a man who has to offer a long explanation for his existance. And any
person who has to offer an explanation as to what he is, is always suspect, and fro
suspicion ther is only one step to hatred or contempt. Dr. Chaim
Weizmann, July 1947
