This
book is dedicated to the memory of
Lieutenant
Dvir Lanir
29.3.75 - 4.2.97
from Moshav Moledet who served
and gave his life for the country
which he loved so dearly.
|
 |
On the night of February 4, Dvir was making
his way to his designated front line position.
As an instructor of tank commanders, he felt the need to be
more professional and so had
volunteered to serve for a short period of time in Lebanon.
He was among the 73 soldiers
killed in the tragic helicopter accident. Dvir, my
eldest sons classmate; Dvir, my second
sons commanding officer and colleague at base; Dvir,
who could not settle for less than best;
Dvir my friend. You will always be remembered for the fine,
responsible young man you were.
In memory of all our fallen soldiers we must
continue with our dedicated work, building
and reinforcing the foundations of our nation.

Interruption
by Anna Sotto
He left -
his sandals
by the door
dropped after
a basket ball game,
a hoe, a rake -
propped up against
the garden wall,
a book - a bus ticket
marks the place,
a letter written -
not yet sent,
notes for a meeting
the following day,
his wife, carrying
their unborn child.
