    Newspaper

This is a big project which can be undertaken over several weeks.

Brainstorm with your class what constitutes a newspaper:

* headlines * news * television * entertainment

* cartoons * sport * editorials * letters to the editor

The object is to write a newspaper with everyone contributing some aspect. Working in small groups (no more than three), students choose a component of the paper they want to work on and prepare a suitable contribution. Stress that the theme is ISRAEL and that their work should reflect this.

For example, if sport is chosen, then the students could report on a football match between Israel and ...; an interview with an Israeli sport personality; ...

Choose a name for the newspaper and display all the contributions on the wall. (This is a wall newspaper, not a tabloid!)

Radio program

The basic idea is the same as the newspaper, with emphasis on oral skills. Pupils prepare reports on different subjects - an interview with "someone special," a review of a new Israeli film or book, vacation jingles, weather reports, commercials, announcements, - the list is endless.
