Materials: Tape recorder, taped song, copies of song cut into strips, copies of song Before Class: Select a song that is relevant to the subject you wish to teach. If the song is in Hebrew, have it translated into English. Copy the words, line by line, in such a way so as to make it easy to cut into strips. Make enough copies for all the students in the class. Cut into strips and place each set in an envelope. In Class: Teach new vocabulary. Distribute the envelopes. (Individual or pair work.) The task of the students is to sort the strips into the correct order. When the students have completed the task, play the song, allowing them to check their work and to make the necessary adjustments. Hand out the Hebrew lyrics or song sheet, play the song a final time and discuss the subject with the class. Avi Tsur |
