Materials: A copy of the playing board, a die, one counter/button for each student, set of question/answer cards (see sample, page ). By using a minimum number of cards (10 - 15), the chances of the question reappearing are greater, ensuring learning through repetition. In Class: Divide the class into groups of 2 - 4 players and give each group a die, the right amount of counters/buttons, a copy of the board and a set of cards. Rules of the Game: If you are the first player, roll your die and move forward the number of squares indicated. If you land at the foot of a ladder you do not automatically climb up. One of the members of the group picks the top card and reads the question. If you know the answer you go up. If you fail to answer correctly, you remain at the foot of the ladder. If you land at the head of a snake you do not automatically slide down. One of the members of the group picks the top card and reads the question. If you answer correctly, you don't go down. If you fail to answer correctly, you slide down the snake. To finish, you must land directly on the FINISH square (100). If you are on 98 and throw a six, count two forward and four back to land on square 96 (and hope to throw a four next turn). Avi Tsur |
