2001 - 2002 school year

After Dr. Yehuda Goldstein's interesting and dynamic talk, teacher's were
interested in "contact" details. Dr. Goldstein's lectures are recognized by
the Ministry for "gmul" purposes and schools can therefore engage him in
"Hishtalmuyot beit sifriot".

The following is part of the message sent on REED. Teachers committed
themselves by registering that THEY WOULD ATTEND!!  More than 30 such teachers did NOT participate. WHY?????!! Other teachers who did want to attend were turned away as the list was full. This is a continuing problem and I want to know WHY teachers who committed themselves did not attend. We expect our students to be responsible, well ......  3 teachers had the decency to phone me and inform me that they would/could not attend. This is BEING RESPONSIBLE.

The information can be submitted as a school list. There will be a 5 shekel
participation fee to be paid at registration. Teachers registering must
participate as we are liable for the number of participants.

03/06/02

Dear REEDers
It has come to my attention from some of the responses I have received that you/your school are waiting for a letter from me informing you about the up-coming Hishtalmut. This is a reminder that ALL schools are obligated to read REED at least once a week. EVERY school is responsible to have at least 1 representative who passes on the information. I DO NOT SEND OUT SNAIL-MAIL!! If you receive this notification, please share it (and the information already sent) with your staff.
Thanks
Avi

Dear Colleagues
The closing date for registration for our Annual In-service day, is Monday, June 10. Please understand that I can order a hall for 50 participants or for 200. The way it looks to date is a small intimate room is all we need.

wait till the last minute.

REEDers
This message is to be passed on to coordinator of school

I sent out a message requesting that schools in need of teachers for next
year send me information. ONLY 4 schools have done so, however, on ETNI I see some of MY SCHOOLS advertizing. YOU ARE REQUESTED TO SEND ME THE INFORMATION AS STIPULATED IN MY MESSAGE TO BE FOUND ON THE REED MESSAGE BOARD. ETNI is fine by me but I too need this information.

This is a reminder that any and all teachers that are interviewed for a
position at your school, MUST BE INTERVIEWED BY THE PIKUACH!!!

Dear REEDers

THIS NOTIFICATION IS TO BE PASSED ON TO THE PRINCIPAL OF YOUR SCHOOL AND THE PERSON IN CHARGE OF BAGRUT!!!

The English Bagrut Exam is in two days time and SCHOOLS still have NOT sent me form 13 (results of the oral-exam)??? I am angry as I too have a
responsibility and a job to do. The forms are to be sent IMMEDIATELY!!!!

If your school has sent the forms I apologize for this general notification
and you are in the clear.

11/05/2002

Dear REEDers
This is a clarification to my previous message about Form 9540 (Form for
Oral Bagrut)

There are two forms with the number 9540:
1.The red / reddish form is the regular form that the testers who tested the oral bagrut (interview/cue cards) signed
2. An olive colored form (meyuchad) to be used for the students with
dispensations. If you recall, YOU ARE NOT TO HAVE THEM REGISTERED ON THE REGULAR 9540 FORM. You are required to calculate their grade as stipulated by the Ministry on the letter/form recently sent to schools "The 1 Hour Exam".

Please note that the results of the students taking the 1 hour exam ARE NOT TO BE SENT ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM (as in other subjects), THEY ARE TO BE SENT ONLY AFTER THE SCHOOL HAS RECEIVED THE OFFICIAL ANSWERS 2-3 weeks later.

I hope this is clear. For more clarifications, please use the forum of REED
so that other teachers can follow. I will not answer direct emails to my
hotmail.

Wishing us all, Chag Sameach and Kol Tuv

Please send the information to  tsuravi@hotmail.com

8/05/2002

Dear REEDers Shalom

A number of schools have contacted me about "multiple copies" of the tapes for the bagrut exams. The schools who followed the instructions sent out by the Ministry  WILL RECEIVE multiple copies. Schools who did not abide by the instructions will NOT receive extra copies. Please do not call on me for assistance as there is nothing that I can do to help.

Our Summer In-service will be held at Kfar Hayarok on July 1, 2002. We look forward to seeing you at the function. A second day will be given mid-year. Attendance at both days will give 14 hours "likrat gmul"

I am pleased to inform you that next years forms will be ready on DATA-BASE which will enable us to function more professionally. ALL SCHOOLS will be obliged to fill in and submit the forms (in September). This is just to wet your appetite for now.

Wishing you and your students all the best for the coming exam/s.

Avi Tsur and tzevet Ha-hadracha

26/04/2002

Dear REEDers Shalom
This information is to be shared with all staff members -

It has been brought to my attention that some of the testers (oral
exam - interview/cuecards) have been giving in-between grades. The
instructions are very clear - the grades given are the grades listed on the grid  (NO IN-BETWEEN GRADES!!).

It is my responsibility to approve testers of pupils taking the 1 hour exam
(oral in-place of written).
The school MUST SUBMIT -

1. name and ID of the pupil

2. name of tester (not the class teacher)

3. this is to be done on school letter head paper and can be faxed to my office 03-6898793

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please note that the results of the oral exam are recorded on form 9540 (not to worry - the person in charge of bagrut at your school knows this.) The student who does the 1 hour exam has his/ her grade submitted by the school ALSO on form 9540. As only one grade can be recorded for a student, this means that your 1 hour candidate cannot have his/her name on the form of the regular oral (interview/cue-card) 9540 form.
Their name and result is NOT TO BE SUBMITTED ON THIS FORM with the rest of the machzor. How then does s/he get their result? When you have finished grading their exam and calculate the final result, you are to take the result into account. All you need to do is to follow the instructions

HOW TO GRADE THE TEST -the instructions come to the school every year prior to the exam.

NOTE: Unlike in the past, this year you are NOT to grade the 1 hour
test on the spot and send in the result. Instead, you are to fill in the
students answers and at a later stage (two or three weeks later) your school will receive the official answers from the ministry. Based on these
answers you will grade the test and forward the results.

For more information please phone me on Mondays 7:00 - 10:00 at the
office 03-6898828 (my direct line).

Wishing you and your students all the very best
Avi and Tzevet Ha'hadracha

Dear REEDers, Shalom

These are indeed difficult times for us all. Some schools have already
finished with the Oral Bagrut.

By now you should know who your testers are and I hope that you have
set the date/s for the test. Schools who have not done so are to write to my email IMMEDIATELY!!  tsuravi@hotmail.com

Also, if there are problems please write to me. You are assured of a
prompt answer.

Wishing you all, students and teachers alike, everything of the
best.

Take care,
Avi Tsur and tsevet Ha-hadracha

13/02/02

Dear REEDers Shalom
I am pleased to inform you that the shibbutz (4 and 5 points) has been submitted to Machleket B'chinot. Information about  which school is testing your students can be obtained from Gail Mann -  gailm@netvision.net.il

Please note!! Official permission has not as yet been given by the testing
department. If you wish to test early, phone the testing department and get their approval. The grading grids will be sent to the schools next week from Jerusalem.

Each tester tests up to 25 students. If you have the names of your testers
and feel that you need more testers, this probably means that the testers
need to come twice. Remember - the number of testers your school receives is the number you give. (If your school has 6 teachers and needs 10 testers then 4 of your teachers are expected to test twice!!)

This is a reminder that you need to send the details of your 3 point teachers in to the office or my email:  tsuravi@hotmail.com
Wishing you all the best
Avi Tsur and tzevet ha-hadracha

Dear REEDers

The 11th grade essays which were sent to the office in December (or

the end of next week. The essays that have come in this week will be
assessed next week and the results will be forwarded at a later stage.

The winter bagrut exam is on January 22. All the best to the

1. Message sent by Sharon Tzur to ETNI for schools interested:
Riki Zakeyn (head of the division of test organization)says that
while one tape per school is automatically being provided for the Winter
Bagrut, additional tapes will be provided for all students who are certified
as needing them - but you MUST ORDER the tapes on the form provided
(with the letter) and fax the form to Riki Zakeyn at 02-5603115 - by THIS THURSDAY,
November 29th. (Registration for Winter Bagrut closes on Nov 30).

Note, you almost must see to it that Form 9539 (that's the form
where the school lists the Special Testing for each student) is submitted

- one for each student who has Hatamot. The deadline, I think, is
30.11
This is relevant for students being tested in the winter, whether
they are Mivchani Mishne (retests) Hizdamnut Shniya, or students taking
the test for the first time this winter (an option that was not available
until now - and which some schools might be doing, although the unions have
advised against it).

2. Schools taking the Winter bagrut must have the Oral exam behind
them by January 15th. Testers will be sent to the school by the pikuach. As you are responsible for the tziyun shnati, can I presume that the READING PROGRAM has been completed by all the schools who registered??

3. Schools taking the summer exam must submit the following
information to my email tsuravi@hotmail.com  NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 31
a/ Name of school and Semel Mossad
b/ How many students taking the 4 and 5 point exam (including 11th
graders who have approval)
c/ Full name of Bagrut teachers + ID
For teachers not on our list from last year, you must include
address (with mikud) and telephone number

If any of the above requirements are not met, the email will be
returned to you and we will not take responsibility for last minute "dealings"

As this information concerns BAGRUT, you are responsible to share it
with the principal of your school!!!

Yours sincerely
Avi Tsur and Tzevet hadracha

Initial information - Winter Bagrut:
The Winter bagrut is scheduled for January 22, 2002. The ORAL EXAM
for students taking this examination must be completed by January 15.

In order to facilitate testers you are requested to email me at
-tsuravi@hotmail.com

Information to be submitted:
1. The name of your school and fax number
2. Name of coordinator and phone number
3. How many students will be taking the winter bagrut (4 & 5 points)
4. 30% of the Annual grade ("Tziyun Shnati/Magen") given by the
teacher, is based on the Reading Program. Please abide by the ruling!!

Needless to say, by having to organize the oral exam twice is an
additional pressure for us all. Lets hope that it all works out for the best
and that our students really do benefit from it.

This information is to be passed on to the school principal, the
school coordinator for exams, the English coordinator.

Dear teachers
The forms that you sent in have been checked and needless to say
there is an abundance of empty spaces. We highlighted the places that still need to be filled in and I planned to return the forms to the schools for you to do the work as requested. I have now been informed that the DATA-BASE program we requested has been given approval, so schools will have to fill in the required information as soon as the forms are forwarded. (In about a month.)
We will patiently wait till then to get your updated information.

What was missing on the forms?
In some cases the name of the school. email and fax numbers. Some
schools have not marked the Teacher's Center in their area. It is up to YOU to find which one is the closest and to inform us. Some teachers haven't filled in the allocated place for hishtalmut attended (dare I even think that maybe they haven't attended any??). Some coordinators don't know who their reed representative is? Is this possible?? Please keep in mind that all our announcements are made on REED and not through snail-mail.

All the best
Avi and tzevet Ha-hadracha

24/10/2001

We are pleased to inform you that we will be holding a hishtalmut
for teachers of Mabar classes on December 17th. Please note the date in
your diary. The program and schedule will be forwarded soon. (It will be
held at one of our schools in the central area, starting at 9:00.
All Mabar teachers are expected to register and attend.

Dear Bagrut teachers
This is a reminder that schools wishing to enable students to take

25/9/2001

Dear Colleagues Shalom
This morning I met with the teaching staff at The Jordan Valley Teaching Centre. I was shocked to learn that out of all the Minhal Schools in the area (Nir Haemek, Kaduri, Beit Yerach, Emek Harod, Gilboa, Sde Eliyahu, Nevei Eitan, Bikat Kinnerot, Chispin) only 1 teacher (from Beit Yerach)
has registered. Apart from my course there is a list of other courses being given as well.

On the forms that have been returned by coordinators, one of the requests is for Hishtalmuyot. On the one hand I am being asked for In-service programs (a good healthy and professional attitude) and yet no one is signing up for
courses being given. This year the Minhal will NOT be giving on going hishtalmuyot. This is being done at the Teacher centres (BY YOUR MADRICHIM).

A list of the courses being given can be found on REED. I am personally giving two courses - one in Hadera and one at Tzemach (The Jordan Valley). I sincerely hope to see a better representation of MY schools at these courses and at the other courses being given.

For more information you can contact your Madrichim, Gail Mann or me.

Avi Tsur

23/9/2001

Dear Teachers
Please take a look at the link on REED to the inservice courses on ETNI.

Coordinators - make sure that your teachers are aware of these courses. In the forms that you are to return to me by September 30, it specifically asks you to fill in the teacher centres in your area. It is your duty to find
out which centre caters for your school (area) and at the same time to make enquiries about English courses that are being given. Let's be professional.
Going to hishtalmuyot IS BEING PROFESSIONAL!

20/9/2001

A number of schools have enquired as to when the students who wish to take the Winter Bagrut do the Oral Exam (Interview and Modified Role Play). The English Inspectorate have been trying to get answers from Macleket B'chinot but as yet have not been given any solution/s. As soon as I have an answer to this problem you will be informed through REED. Please phone Rachela
(Machlekt B'chinot 02-5602487) - maybe you will be able to inform me and REED if a decision has been made.

Please keep in mind that students taking the exam in Winter and who receive a yearly grade (Tziun Shnati) must have completed the Reading program which
counts for 30% og the Tziun Shnati!!

Avi

Dear colleagues,
Well my sabbatical is over and I am back on the job again.  I would very much like to meet with you all to discuss your plans for the coming year and other issues that are relevant to all of us.
I would therefore like to invite you to my house on Wednesday 12th September at 16.00 for a meeting of all coordinators. Please phone me to get instructions how to get to my house and to let me know that you are coming.
My phone # is 04-6361563
or email me at: jaye@netvision.net.il
This is an important meeting and a chance to get together as a group and see how we can cooperate in this area and to discuss ministry news, local hishtalmuot etc.
I would like to wish you and your staff a very peaceful and fruitful new year.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you in the next few days,
Regards,

Jaye Shlayer

Dear REEDers Shalom
Here's wishing us all a very good year. With "Moed B" bagrut behind us it is time to look ahead hopefully without too many surprises!!

The general form to be filled in by the Coordinator and the forms for each teacher to fill in have been posted on our site and can be downloaded.
They have also been faxed to the principal of each and every school to be forwarded to you. We know that filling in forms is sometimes not the most pleasant of tasks but MUST be done and returned by September 30. Please send the forms in ONE batch (and not each teacher separately!!).

At present you are not able to fill-in the forms on line and return via internet.

Once again, to you, your families and pupils - Shana Tova.
